Planting Shade: Cooling Down L.A. Before The 2028 Olympic Games

With the 2028 Olympics on the horizon, the City of L.A. is determined to ensure proper sun shelter for the influx of athletes and tourists to come.

The County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health listed some sobering predictions in its 2021 executive summary for Climate Change and Health Equity in Los Angeles County. Major points listed a future wrought with climate hazards, including predictions of an increase in larger, destructive wildfires, as well as the possibility of up to a ten-fold increase in the number of heat waves in L.A.
