Disaster Response

Testing soil safety after L.A. wildfires

Protecting Angelenos from dangerous contamination with free rapid-response soil testing. Our Contaminant Level Evaluation and Analysis for Neighborhoods (CLEAN) project is a USC program separate from L.A. Dept. of Public Health soil testing. CLEAN is funded by FireAid and LA Care.

Interpreting your results

Results will be uploaded to this google sheet as soon as possible, and mapped onto the interactive map. You will be notified by email as soon as your results are ready—typically within 4-6 weeks of the date when you drop off your sample.

For help understanding your results, recommendations for precautionary measures to reduce your and your family’s risk of exposure, and additional resources, please see our lead interpretation guide (en español aquí)

Samples Map

This map will be updated regularly as new samples are processed and analyzed.

In the map on the right, you can use the search bar in the top left to look up your sample ID. If you submitted more than one sample under the same ID, then the color of your point (triangle) is based on the median of all your lead results. A median is a type of average (more here). You can still view all of your individual results if you click on your point and look at the pop-up window.

Out of respect for our participants’ privacy, CLEAN is not able to share the coordinates of the properties included in the map.
