Hot or Not? World Cup edition<\/h1>\n\n\n

ShadeLA<\/a>, the\u00a0new coalition I wrote about last year<\/a>, is\u00a0focused on pilot projects in three LA communities<\/a>\u00a0they’ve identified as particularly vulnerable to the impacts of heat\u00a0and<\/em>\u00a0megaevents: South LA, East LA, and Inglewood. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I invited two of ShadeLA’s experts \u2014 UCLA’s Edith de Guzman and USC’s Michelle Barton \u2014 to evaluate the shade interventions I saw at this summer’s tournament to explain why each of these attempts at optimizing thermal comfort are hot (derogatory) or not (complimentary).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
