Greening L.A.’s hottest streets

Bringing more trees, shade, and fresh air to L.A. by mapping where, what kind, and how many trees to plant for the biggest impact.

USC Launched 2020

From data to design: guiding tree planting across L.A.

In Phase 1 (2021), we released our first strategic vision for tree planting opportunities in the Eastside neighborhoods of Lincoln Heights, El Sereno, and Ramona Gardens.

Building on that foundation, Phase 2 (2021–2022) and Phase 3 (2023–2022) focused on Boyle Heights, University Park, and City Terrace/East L.A.

With data, design, and community input guiding every step, we identified streets where trees could have the greatest impact on comfort, health, and neighborhood vitality.
